"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

-Fred Rogers

I am a second generation college student and middle child of three. There are many things which fill my time from volunteer work in my community, professional experience in a medical office, customer service and childcare, and building community with others. My love for people spills over into my career aspirations. I am a future Mental Health Therapist, focused on helping people be the best and most healthy version of themselves.

Subsequent to my graduation, I plan to pursue a career as a Clinical Mental Health Therapist. This field will utilize many of my skills. For example, I am a great communicator and have strong intuition to know exactly what my clients will need and how to listen and help most effectively. Additionally, compassion and understanding are two qualities needed in the field and also qualities which I see strongly in myself. Cultivating a welcoming space for all people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and needs is important to me and one of my core personal goals. I have honed these skills over the years through my education and work experiences along with personal experiences and I am motivated to continue strengthening and expanding my skillset.

One of the moments which shaped my academic life the most was when my parents pulled me out of public school in kindergarten and began home schooling me. The close community and many opportunities I was given helped make me who I am today. My strongest subjects have always been English, History, and Science. My school years have been filled with many great experiences, and nothing made me prouder than the moment I graduated, knowing my hard work had paid off and I had made it.
