Travel

Traveling has been a big part of my life thus far. With history-loving parents, my summer vacations were always filled with traveling to historic places. These travel endeavors have brought me to Charleston, SC to see Patriots Point, the Charleston Tea Plantation, Angel Oak Tree and the Fort Sumter Monument.

I have also visited Little Rock, AR to see Little Rock high school and the monument for the Little Rock Nine.

Two trips to Washington, D.C. allowed me to visit our country's many monuments and landmarks including the US Capitol, presidential memorials, the many museums on the National Mall, the White House, Arlington Cemetery, and the Memorial Day service on the Capitol lawn.

Multiple trips to Europe allowed me to see the Crown Jewels, Big Ben, many museums and art galleries and the countryside of England; the Saint Patrick Cathedral, Library of Trinity, Trinity College and more in Ireland; and The Eiffel Tower, Musee de Orsay, Notre Dame, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and more in France.

Leadership Roles

Volunteer and Community Service

While I tend to consider myself more of a follower than a leader, I have found myself in many leadership roles throughout my life. One of these roles was as a counselor at a summer camp for middle and high school students. A few of my jobs included keeping track of the kids' location and also progress in the lessons, providing basic counseling, leading Bible studies, maintaining an orderly cabin and attending and sharing at all staff meetings.

I have also helped lead summer praise camp for children 5 years old through high school for the past 4 years. During those 4 years, I have both choreographed and lead children in learning and perfecting dances, helped run lines, taught songs and solos to the children, helped plan and complete crafts, and assisted with costume changes and set design and set up.

In a professional setting, I have been acting manager multiple times at my current occupation at Waxhaw Creamery. When the owners have other commitments, I have been made manager in their place. During these times it is my responsibility to run the shop, handle customers, answer phones and questions, maintain a clean and orderly shop and oversee the other employees. I have also been responsible for opening up the shop on many occasions, including setting up all the supplies for the day, taking inventory of all stock and letting in the employees.

Volunteering and community service has always been a big part of my life. From singing in nursing homes as a young girl to tearing up and putting in a new roof for a person in need, my hands have never grown tired of helping. My church growing up was heavily involved in community service projects. Every fall we would rake leaves for the elderly who could not do so themselves. In the summer we partnered up with Fixing It For Christ- a local mission trip of sorts to fix up the houses of families in need in our community. During this week of service, we replaced roofs, dug wells, shoveled mulch, painted walls, fixed any electrical issues and shared our faith.

I began volunteering with the Humane Society of Union County which rescues and re-homes dogs and cats, provides spay and neuter services, houses a food bank full of donated cat and dog food, provides low-cost medical services and finds loving foster and forever homes for animals. Serving not only the animals but the community alongside the HSUC has been an amazing experience. After they helped me find my own rescue dog, Mo, I have greatly appreciated their work and wanted to help.

Conferences

I have been to a few conferences and talks, some for school and others just out of interest. I have attended many home schooling conferences with my family, college preparation workshops and also music conferences. The Scholarship Gold workshop I attended in 2017 helped me to create a game-plan for applying to colleges, learn how to obtain scholarships and discover what to look for in colleges.
